As we move into Week Five of your Biology revision journey…
This week focuses on two crucial Unit 2 chapters:
Cell Division
Diffusion, Osmosis & Active Transport
These chapters are the foundation of movement and growth in biology:
👉 Cell Division explores how life continues through mitosis and meiosis, and why errors in these processes can lead to serious conditions such as cancer. Understanding the cell cycle gives you the framework for genetics, reproduction, and inheritance later in the course.
👉 Diffusion, Osmosis & Active Transport explain how substances move into and out of cells vital for everything from nutrient uptake in the gut to water balance in plants. Osmosis is also a mandatory Q9 experiment, so examiners love it.
📦 Mandatory Experiment (Q9)
To demonstrate osmosis in a plant tissue
As always, your weekly plan includes:
• A chapter learning confidence checklist
• Core topics to revise
• Exam-style assessment questions to test your progress
💡 Examiner tip: Cell Division and Osmosis have come up repeatedly across Section A, B, and C. Both topics are have high-return rates and form the backbone for Genetics, Ecology, and Human Physiology.
Stick with the plan 💪 master these now and the rest of Unit 2 becomes much easier to tackle.
